Too Soon

Too soon
rises the sky
to blue perfection.

New grass waves,
uneven rows
unwary of
the leveling blade.

Delicate flowers
unfold
too soon,

and naive birds
in winter-spare trees
sing
like it’s June.

  1. Lovely poem! "naive birds in winter-spare trees sing like its June". Bird song in the winter is such a peaceful sound.

  2. Birds are such hopeful little creatures. Love the image of them in the "winter-spare trees".

  3. There is angst lurking in this poem, a sense of dread embedded in the peaceful images. A very contemporary poem.
